Nurse Extern Program

 

The Gwinnett Medical Center Nurse Extern Program offers nursing students the opportunity to gain valuable clinical knowledge and skills through temporary summer employment. The program supports the student nurse's professional development as it provides a thorough orientation, a preceptor that works closely with the Nurse Extern in a supportive environment, interactive classroom time and additional support from the Program Coordinator.

 

The Nurse Extern Program for 2008 will start on Monday, May 12 and end on Wednesday, July 9.

If you have completed your school’s Basic Nursing Fundamentals clinical coursework (i.e. vital signs, bed baths, etc.) by the start of the program in May, 2008, you may apply online for the Nurse Extern Program. Look for the Extern position posting in the Careers section of our Web site.

 

In addition to applying online, applicants will need to submit official transcripts documenting at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, submit two letters of reference, (click here to download Reference Form), and completed checklist (click here to download Checklist).The application deadline was February 22, 2008.

 

Successful candidates will be notified by mail and invited to attend the information session on March 14, 2008 at the Gwinnett Resource Center.
